The LIN Serial Analyzer development tool enables the user to monitor and communicate to a LIN (Local Interface Network) bus using a Personal Computer (PC). This is a powerful tool which can be used to send messages, monitor the bus traffic, perform errors checks and filter messages amongst many other features, allowing the user to develop. LIN Serial Analyzer The LIN Serial analyzer development system enables a PC to communicate with a LIN (Local Interface Network) bus. The PC program uses a graphical user interface (GUI) to enter and display message frames occurring on the target bus. The user interface program runs on Microsoft Windows compatible computers with a USB port. The Visual Basic Express source code for the PC interface GUI is open source and available on the Microchip website. The LIN Serial Analyzer connects to the system network using a 3 position terminal block.

Datasheets:
The LIN Serial Analyzer development system enables a personal computer (PC) to communicate with a LIN (Local Interface Network) bus as a network debug and analysis tool. The LINSA can reside on the bus as a master, slave, or non-intrusive snooper. The included PC program uses a graphical user interface to enter and display message frames occurring on the target bus. The user interface program runs on Microsoft Windows compatible computers with a USB port. The Visual Basic Express source code for the PC interface GUI is open source and available on the Microchip website. What’s included?
1 x LIN Serial Analyzer
1 x mini-B USB cable
1 x CD
What is LIN?
LIN, short for Local Interconnect Network, is an affordable serial network, used primarily for communication between devices within cars and other vehicles.
How does it connect?
The LIN Serial Analyzer connects to a PC via the USB cable provided. You will require a PC with a Microsoft Windows operating system and a USB port. The LIN Serial Analyzer sits between your PC and the board that you are testing.
What are the status LEDs for?
There are 3 status LEDs on top of the Microchip LIN Serial Analyzer. A green USB light indicates that power is being supplied from the USB cable. A yellow light marked “Busy” is confirmation that the device is communicating with the LIN network. Finally, there is a blue LED marked “LIN” which confirms that the device is connected to the target bus.
